Biotechnology

We have analysed and looked for areas that fulfil the following criteria in the coming 3-10 years:
strongly disruptive –
– high potential for profit –
– inevitable and unstoppable –

BIOTECHNOLOGY and especially CRISPR-CAS9 is one such area.

TODAY: CRISPR is short for “Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats” and CAS9 is short for “CRISPR associated protein 9”. This technology is today at the forefront of genetic engineering. In short, it is a “genetic scissor” that can be used to cut out and replace a part of the DNA and thereby rewrite the genetic code. The creators of the technology won the 2020 Nobel Prize of Chemistry for its development. The method is relatively simple to use and inexpensive.

FUTURE: Genetic engineering is a sensitive subject. It could potentially be used to make babies with designed features; a subject debated fiercely. However, it could also be used to make better vaccines and shorten the time to produce them. And it could eradicate all hereditary diseases, all types of cancer, and extend or even reverse aging in humans. That is likely where we are going!

This is where science is already today!
